Government Funding Creates 200 Jobs

Figures released by the Scottish National Party (SNP) have shown that Scottish government funding has helped to create more than 200 jobs in the East Kilbride area in the last two years.

Grants totalling £3.728 million have been offered by the SNP to businesses and employers in the region since it took power, with more than 12 firms benefiting enough to take on more employees as a result.

Strathaven-based MSP Linda Fabiani said: "The impressive range of sectors which have been awarded financial assistance - from aero engine repair to cutting-edge medical equipment to mezzanine floors - shows that the government is supporting businesses big and small."

Meanwhile, Scottish first minister Alex Salmond recently revealed that investment in the renewables sector in the country could create hundreds of jobs in the green sector in the years ahead.

He noted that a £600 million wind farm development has been given the go ahead in south Lanarkshire which could help provide power for 320,000 homes once completed.
